Social Survey

As a social research technique or method, social survey is a very important way of assembling data but it is by no means the only way. the method is effective in collecting and analyzing information adopting the plan, ascertaining justice, and taking measures.

Definition

According to Dunean Mitchell “the social survey is a systematic collection of facts about people living in a specific geographic, cultures or administrative area”.
 
According to Bogardees, “A social survey is the collection of data concerning the living and working condition, broadly speaking of the people, in a given community.”

Finally, it can be told that a social survey is an information searching method that provides information about various event communities’ societies, etc, and helps in adopting plan in various constructive works.

The nature of social problems in every country is different. So using different methods the sociologist of any country collects information about the social structure of any country or society. There are both advantages and disadvantages to applying social surveys in Bangladesh. The advantages and disadvantages are discussed below….

Advantages of Social Survey in Bangladesh :

There is a lot of advantage in applying social survey in Bangladesh.
  1. Collecting information from illiterate people.
  2. Lower caste.
  3. Applying both in village and town.
  4. Gathering information.
  5. Preparing plan.
  6. Social cultural and economic situation.

The Disadvantage of Social Survey

  1. Lack of getting profound information.
  2. Lack of effective management and training.
  3. Prediction.
  4. Scientific and effective research
After watching the above discussion in conclusion, it may be total that social survey plays an important role in collecting information, pre-ordinating plan, and effective measures. But in some cases, it has some limitations and disadvantages also.
